PTSD / HEALTH INFORMATION

It is estimated that the cost of feeding and caring for an Assistance Dog (including vet bills, yearly vaccinations, Heart Worm, Intestinal worming and flea control) is about $2,500 per year. These costs would be your responsibility each year and are required for annual certification.

CRIMINAL HISTORY DISCLOSURE AND POLICE CHECK BLUE CARD

Our training is uniquely designed to address PTSD specific issues. The duration of training may vary from 6 months to 2 years depending on the individual needs and skills of both the handler and the dog. Training is required to achieve Public Access Test (PAT) certification and is reassessed every 12 months by PTSD Dogs Australia. In order to achieve initial PAT certification a commitment of formal weekly face to face training with a PTSD Dogs Australia trainer on the Sunshine Coast is required. for this reason you must reside within a 150klm radius of Cooroy, Sunshine Coast (Hervey Bay to South Brisbane). Following initial certification, you are welcome to participate in group training but this is not compulsory.
